My Dress-Up Darling Manga Officially Concludes
As the anime prepares for its return, the My Dress-Up Darling manga has reached its conclusion. After seven years of serialization in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine, the manga officially ended with chapter 115. Many fans, anime staff, and even the voice actors expressed their gratitude to Shinichi Fukuda, the manga’s creator.
Keisuke Shinohara, the director of the first season, also shared his thoughts: "Thank you, Fukuda-sensei, for completing Kisekoi’s serialization! I still can’t believe that the manga has truly ended. I’m very sad," he said.
He also promised to give his best in the production of the second anime season. Although the main manga has concluded, the publisher has confirmed that there will be a side story and epilogue to wrap up the story more completely.
Production Team and Voice Cast
The first season of My Dress-Up Darling was produced by Studio CloverWorks, with Keisuke Shinohara as the director. Yoriko Tomita was responsible for the series composition, Takeshi Nakatsuka composed the music, and Kazumasa Ishida handled the character designs.
The main voice actors, Hina Suguta as Marin Kitagawa and Shoya Ishige as Wakana Gojo, have been confirmed to return for Season 2. However, there has been no confirmation on whether the full production staff and supporting cast from the first season will return.
Live-Action and Manga
The popularity of My Dress-Up Darling extends beyond the anime and manga. The series was also adapted into a live-action TV drama in Japan. Although it received mixed reactions due to some changes from the original storyline, the adaptation is still a testament to how big the series has become in Japanese pop culture.
The My Dress-Up Darling manga was first published in Young Gangan magazine in January 2018. As of now, Square Enix has released 14 volumes in Japan, with the 12th English volume published on October 22, 2023.
In September 2023, the manga shifted to a monthly serialization schedule to complete the “Tenmei” (Mandate of Heaven) arc, which began in Chapter 86 on January 6, 2023. Now that the manga has officially concluded, fans can look forward to the highly anticipated second season of the anime!
