One Piece Chapter 1096 Review: God Valley Incident

After a one-week break, finally One Piece chapter 1096, titled "Kumachi," has been released with a very engaging story. In this chapter, Oda reveals a lot of information about the Rocks Pirates and the God Valley tragedy.

The chapter starts with a brutal local resident hunting tournament that will last for 3 weeks. The residents are given 1 hour to escape, after which 200 hunters, including Tenryuubito and God's Knights, will slaughter them with no survivors.

There are approximately 100,000 God Valley residents to be hunted, referred to as "prey rabbits." Among these residents, there are 13 special rabbits and 150 rare ones. Eliminating these rabbits will earn a bonus of 10,000 points.

Special Devil Fruit Prizes

The winners of this tournament will receive luxurious prizes, including the Uo Uo no Mi Model: Seiryu Devil Fruit, which is currently consumed by Kaido. Additionally, there's the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, the Devil Fruit now eaten by Kuma.

Meanwhile, Kong orders Vice Admiral Garp to go to God Valley, as he is concerned about any potential threat to the safety of the Tenryuubito. Garp initially refuses but eventually decides to go after learning that Gol D. Roger is heading to God Valley.

It seems the Marines have taken treasures from the pirate island Hachinosu, and the great pirates want to reclaim them. Not only Gol D. Roger, but also the Rocks Pirates are heading to the island to seize this treasure.

Escape Plan

On the other hand, Ivankov has a plan to escape from God Valley. He and his sibling, Jinny, have learned that the tournament's prize includes rare Devil Fruits with tremendous powers. One of them is a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that can turn a human into a giant dragon.

There's also a Devil Fruit with the ability to send others or oneself to a distant island. If one of them can acquire this Devil Fruit, they can save many people on the island.

Of course, obtaining the Devil Fruit guarded by God's Knights won't be easy. However, Jinny, skilled in communication, has recorded and spread information from God Valley to the outside world using Den Den Mushi, hoping that someone will come to the island.

Arrival of the Rocks Pirates

After the War Ends

The story shifts to the Sorbet Kingdom in South Blue. Kuma successfully rescues Ivankov, Jinny, and more than 500 others from God Valley. The tragedy that occurred in God Valley is, of course, not reported to the public.

The information that comes out in the newspapers is the story of Garp's heroism in defeating the Rocks Pirates. The World Government might have paid Morgan to keep this information from spreading.

Kuma, now possessing the power of the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, has liberated many people, earning him the nickname "Hand of Liberation." Kuma lives in a church, which is why he has always carried a Bible with him.

Jinny stays with Kuma, while Ivankov sets sail to enjoy his freedom. Before parting, Kuma says that he will never forget Iva-chan's face. This is quite ironic because when they met again at Marineford, Kuma had lost his consciousness and couldn't remember Ivankov.

Jinny and Kuma work as carpenters, selling firewood to make a living. Despite his large size, Kuma is often bullied by other kids, but he never retaliates. Instead, Jinny is the one who stands up for Kuma.

With the power of the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, Kuma can remove the pain of others and even heal the wounds of the children who attacked him. These children will eventually become the crew of Jewelry Bonney, Kuma's biological children.
