Pokemon GO to Hold Event in Bali, Introducing Pikachu in Batik Attire

On March 2-3, 2024, Puputan Renon Field in Denpasar, Bali, will host the largest Pokémon event ever held in Indonesia, Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey. This event is part of Pokémon Air Adventure, a spectacular collaboration between Niantic, Inc., The Pokémon Company, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and Garuda Indonesia.

As a first step, Pokémon GO has released Pikachu in Batik attire, a special edition that represents Indonesia's cultural identity. This event not only marks the first time Pokémon GO has organized an offline event in Bali but is also part of a collective effort to support the recovery of the tourism sector post-COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interview, Refael Siregar, Emerging Markets Head of APAC at Niantic, Inc., stated, "Indonesia is a significant market for us, with a dedicated community throughout the archipelago. Therefore, we want to show our appreciation to Trainers by incorporating Indonesia's cultural heritage into Pokémon GO."

Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey will blend the real and virtual worlds of Pokémon, creating an unforgettable experience for fans. Pokémon GO trainers can look forward to various activities, including interactive booths, exciting games, live Pikachu performances, and other engaging events.

Throughout the event, Pokémon GO trainers will receive exclusive bonuses, Special Research tasks, and rare opportunities to capture special edition Pokémon, including Pikachu in Batik attire and Pikachu Floating with special balloons. These Pokémon will be available in the game for a limited time, adding uniqueness and allure to the event.

The Pokémon Air Adventure project originated from a conversation between Omar Tellez, Vice President of Emerging Markets at Niantic, Inc., and Sandiaga Uno, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, during the Pokémon Festival in 2022. Refael Siregar added, "Through this initiative, we hope to provide an unforgettable experience for tourists while introducing the beauty of Indonesia to the global stage."

Tickets for Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey in Bali can be purchased starting January 11, 2024, at a price of Rp150,000 ($10 USD), through the official Pokémon GO website. Additionally, Pokémon Air Adventure will continue to present exciting programs, including the appearance of Pikachu Jet by Garuda Indonesia, which will be a highlight in this year's Pokémon GO journey.

As a pioneer in augmented reality games, Pokémon GO is committed to ongoing innovation. In 2023, new features such as Routes, Party Play, and PokeStop Showcase were introduced, and Refael Siregar promises, "In the future, we will continue to introduce more innovations to enrich the Trainer's playing experience."
