The PUBG Mobile battle royale game is once again collaborating with a famous anime. PUBG Mobile will collaborate with Spy x Family, an anime and manga franchise created by Tatsuya Endo.
The launch schedule and complete details of this collaboration have not yet been officially announced. The Twitter account @PUBGMOBILE only displays a banner stating PUBG Mobile | Spy x Family.
Prior to collaborating with PUBG Mobile, Spy x Family also teamed up with Street Fighter 6, introducing Yor and Loid Forger avatar skins. Although there is no official information yet, it's highly likely that the collaboration between PUBG Mobile and Spy x Family will bring skins and special events with Spy x Family themes.
Collaboration with Anime
This isn't the first time PUBG Mobile has collaborated with anime franchises. Some anime that have previously collaborated with PUBG Mobile include Jujutsu Kaisen, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Dragon Ball Super, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
The choice to collaborate with Spy x Family seems very fitting from a storytelling perspective. Spy x Family tells the story of Twilight, a spy assigned to maintain peace between two countries, Westalis and Ostania.
To carry out his mission, Twilight, also known by the alias Loid Forger, builds a fake family. He adopts Anya Forger as his daughter and marries a woman named Yor.
Anya possesses psychic abilities that allow her to read people's minds. Meanwhile, Yor has a dual profession as a skilled assassin. Despite portraying an ideal family in front of the world, they strive to keep their true identities hidden from each other.
Popularity of Spy x Family
The Spy x Family manga was first published on the Shonen Jump+ app in March 2019. With its increasing popularity, the total circulation of this manga has reached 35 million copies for all 13 volumes as of March 2024. This makes it one of the most popular manga series currently.
