Starlink, the satellite internet service provided by Elon Musk's SpaceX company, will arrive in Indonesia. This service is suitable for Indonesian people who desire fast, stable, and reliable internet access wherever they are.
Before deciding to use this service, it's important for us to understand the costs and availability in Indonesia. According to information from the official Starlink website, this service covers the entire territory of Indonesia, including remote areas.
As of the writing of this article, Indonesia is still listed as "Coming Soon" starting from 2024. Indonesia's neighboring countries such as Malaysia, the Philippines, and Australia are already listed as "Available." However, Indonesian citizens can already order Starlink receiver hardware through its official website.

Advantages of Starlink Service
- High Speed: Starlink offers high-speed internet, enabling users to browse the internet, stream, and work efficiently without interruptions.
- Stability: By utilizing satellite technology, Starlink provides stable internet connection, even in remote areas or under less than ideal weather conditions.
- Unlimited Data: Starlink service offers internet packages without data caps, allowing users to use the internet freely without worrying about additional costs.
- Wide Availability: By covering almost the entire territory of Indonesia, Starlink ensures that people in various regions can enjoy the same internet access as those in major cities.
Subscription Cost and Hardware

To enjoy Starlink internet service, users need to consider a monthly subscription fee of IDR 750,000. This fee includes unlimited internet access. This fee does not include the price of the required hardware.
The hardware for receiving and transmitting Starlink signals is available at a price of IDR 7,800,000, with shipping costs of IDR 345,000, and a deposit fee of IDR 750,000. So, the total is IDR 9,645,000.
Although this initial investment is quite high, users can consider the long-term benefits of fast and stable internet connection. This service is suitable for areas not yet covered by traditional home internet.
Testing in IKN
SpaceX, the company behind this innovative project, has applied for permits from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) to become a provider of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and Internet Service Provider (ISP) services.
In the near future, Starlink plans to conduct trials of its service in the capital of Nusantara (IKN). This step is taken to test the reliability and performance of the service in a representative environment before it is launched widely to the public.
